About these depth charts

Lineup Field draws each NFL team's depth chart as a lineup on a field, the way a broadcast spotter's chart reads: every player is a box in formation with his jersey number on top and the next man up underneath.

How to read the field

You are looking from behind the offense. The gold line is the line of scrimmage. Offense lines up below it in three-receiver, one-tight-end personnel (what most teams list); defense lines up above it in the base front the team lists, 4-3 or 3-4. A defensive player's "left" (LDE, LCB) is on the right side of the picture, because the defense faces you.

The colour on each box's tab is its position group: line, receivers, backs, linebackers and secondary. A red OUT, orange D (doubtful) or yellow Q (questionable) badge is the player's status on that week's official injury report. On a phone each circle shows the jersey number over the position, and the list right below the field carries the names and the next man up.

This site checks for new data every day and rebuilds when it changes; every page shows when its depth chart was published.

What the charts can and can't tell you

A depth chart is what the team lists, not who will play every snap. Teams change personnel by down and distance, and injured players often stay listed as starters until game day, which is why the injury status sits next to each name. Game-day inactives are announced about 90 minutes before kickoff and are not shown here.

For games already played, the matchup page freezes each team's lineup at the last depth chart published before kickoff.
